“I’m truly excited to be able to participate in this residency at all but I'm most looking forward to the space for growth. Literally and figuratively. I’m ready to stretch my work and myself in all new ways.”

Artist Statement:
An exploration of the body and the forces that bind it, both physically and psychologically, form the core of this work. It interrogates how desire, while alluring, can also be constricting, shaping identities into forms that are as much about confinement as they are about expression. This tension manifests in a surreal world where freedom and captivity become indistinguishable, reflecting each other in a haunting mirror.
In the paintings of feminine figures luminous colors and sensuous forms invite the viewer into an almost idyllic realm. Upon closer inspection, an undercurrent of unease emerges. These figures, though alluring, are devoid of corporeal substance. They are mere shells in confinement. These shells act as both adornment and restraint, anchoring the figures to their environments and rendering them static. It is as if they’re imprisoned within the scenes they inhabit. The folding, stretching, and pulling of their fabric bindings suggest a struggle against invisible constraints, a beautiful yet inescapable prison. The facade of perfection becomes a cage, erasing the complexity of the female body and reducing it to a symbol of worship or desire.
