Carole Kim:
Triage
May 3 - May 31, 2025
TRIAGE is a multimedia body of work by Carole Kim driven by an inquiry into how we might conceive of new concepts of care/caregiving and remediation as a process of compassionate cultivation. It began in the studio with what Kim is calling her “triage drawing station” with numerous IV drip sacks full of ink entangled in suspended tree branches. "I am seeking life lines, new ways of considering “remediation” as a multi-faceted concept and process over time. How can we visualize anew and conjure impactful energy that is both agile and persistent to both breakdown and germinate?"
Artist Statement:
Carole Kim is an interdisciplinary artist with a focus on multi-media installations, video projection, live and telematic performance, drawing and digital prints. A passion for drawing as trace, record, exploration, meditation informs it all. Her work spans diverse contexts including experimental art, music, dance, theater and site-specific installation. With a hands-on, tactile approach to the physical materials she works with, Kim consistently pushes how analog meets digital media to create new intersections of discipline and form. Out of a love of experimentation, process and collaborative co-creation has sprung a consistent body of work activating the edges of where analog meets digital, physical meets virtual and visual meets sound meets the body.
“I want to drink in the space to think and be. I will have a sense of urgency to make every moment count but wish to prioritize permission to remain wide open to wherever curiosity might take me. I anticipate curveballs along the way. I will be happy to share glimpses into the process as it unfolds.
