Artist-in-Residence
Mimi Doyo
June-September 2026
“I’m most looking forward to having a dedicated studio where I can truly take up space and focus on my practice without limitation. The residency offers the rare chance to explore and refine my work on a larger scale, while also connecting with a community of artists who share resources and dialogue. I’m especially excited to immerse myself in the process—experimenting with paint, taking risks, and discovering new things about both myself and my art along the way.”

Artist Statement:
I am a Filipino-American visual artist and painter working primarily in acrylic. My work explores memory, identity, and the quiet intimacy of everyday life through domestic spaces, personal objects, plants, and figures tied to care, migration, and belonging. Using layered washes, brushwork, and color, I create emotional atmospheres that blur the line between memory and observation. My paintings reflect quiet rituals and inherited spaces that shape my experience as a woman of color, honoring the overlooked beauty and storytelling found within everyday life.
