Artist-in-Residence
Mimi Doyo
June-September 2026
“I’m most looking forward to having a dedicated studio where I can truly take up space and focus on my practice without limitation. The residency offers the rare chance to explore and refine my work on a larger scale, while also connecting with a community of artists who share resources and dialogue. I’m especially excited to immerse myself in the process—experimenting with paint, taking risks, and discovering new things about both myself and my art along the way.”

Artist Statement:
Mimi’s paintings reflect on memory, identity, and the quiet intimacy of everyday life. Working in acrylic, she layers domestic spaces, plants, and personal objects as symbols of care, migration, and belonging. Moving between representation and abstraction, her work blurs memory and observation to honor the overlooked beauty within ordinary moments.
